Fifty percent of Filipino families consider themselves “mahirap” (poor), a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showed.
The First Quarter 2008 Social Weather Survey found that 50 percent of families in the Philippines, or about nine million, consider themselves “mahirap” or poor, slightly higher than the 46 percent in the previous quarter.
